"The Sound of Silence" - Simon and Garfunkel

How do you interpret these lines from the song "The Sound of Silence": And the people bowed and prayed To the neon God they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls"  and whispered in the sound of silence P/s: How can we not fall in love with song lyrics as deep as this?😌

It demands courage within oneself to let go of the painful memory and also to give peace to the doer of the wrongdoings. However, when you've decided to forgive and forget, your inner self or a part of you might not support the idea of letting go.  Why do I have to forgive when not forgiving is my power over them?  Why to let go when they don't even realise I am hurt? When they hurt me, I've already lost at the first place. To forgive them is to let them win again, isn't it? Feeding yourself off hatred is what makes you breathe. It makes you live.
